The Opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Engineer to join a successful food manufacturing business. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in maintaining and improving production operations within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
As part of the Engineering team, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of production equipment while driving continuous improvement initiatives across the site. You will work closely with Production, Quality, and Health & Safety teams to support operational excellence and maintain the highest standards of food safety and product quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive maintenance on production machinery and site equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and automation-related faults to minimise downtime.
- Develop and support maintenance schedules to maximise equipment performance and reliability.
- Monitor and maintain automated production and control systems.
- Ensure all engineering activities comply with Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Quality Management standards.
- Conduct safety inspections and identify opportunities to improve workplace safety.
- Support internal and external audits and assist with implementing corrective actions where required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance, compliance, and operational records.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve production efficiency and product quality.
- Identify and implement process improvements, cost-saving initiatives, and efficiency gains.
- Support engineering projects, equipment upgrades, and continuous improvement programmes.
- Provide engineering support across the site as required.
Requirements:
- Qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Previous experience working within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems.
- Experience carrying out fault finding, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements and safe working practices.
- Experience within the food manufacturing industry.
- Knowledge of automation systems and PLC-controlled equipment
- HACCP or Food Safety qualifications.
- IOSH qualification.
- Experience supporting audits and compliance activities.
- Involvement in machinery installations, commissioning, or production line improvements
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
