** Field-Based Diesel Fitter/Engineer**
Our client, an established manufacturer, is excited to announce a unique opportunity within their new rental division. Due to remarkable growth and exceeding performance expectations, they are seeking a skilled Diesel Fitter/Engineer to join their team, which covers the Southwest of England.
This pivotal role will involve reporting directly to the Senior Engineer at the depot and undertaking a variety of mechanical and electrical engineering tasks both on-site and in the field.
Ideal candidates will have experience with engine manufacturers such as CAT, Perkins, Volvo, or JCB, particularly with prime movers that drive large water pumps, which will also fall under the successful applicant's responsibilities. Training will be provided for those who need assistance with the pump end.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Complying with health, safety, and environmental legislative requirements.
- Utilising risk assessments and method statements effectively.
- Planning and coordinating work efficiently.
- Liaising with customers and providing technical support.
- Undertaking repairs for the diesel-driven pump fleet and conducting fault finding throughout the mechanical/electrical process.
- Assisting with spares ordering and maintaining the fleet in world-class condition.
- Managing maintenance planning and daily project inquiries.
- Being a part of the callout rota and checking compliance with project specifications.
**The Ideal Candidate Will Have:**
- A qualification in Mechanical Engineering and/or Diesel Mechanics.
- Experience with large diesel engines, preferably OEM training.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of managing personnel on-site and possessing strong planning skills.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team, maintaining focus and delivering results.
**Qualifications:**
- HNC or City & Guilds in a relevant engineering discipline (mechanical bias with electrical knowledge preferred),
- Manufacturers' in-house qualifications will be accepted.
- Any relevant industry qualifications, such as Quarry Passport and CSCS card, are beneficial but not essential.
- A full driving licence is essential.
**What Our Client Offers**
Package: £32k - £35k pa - 40 hrs per week, 1 in 5 weeks callout with paid standby rate, paid overtime if called out, plus bonus at the end of the year
